The 2012 Retriever Championship was held at Cawdor Estateby kind invitation of the Right Honourable Earl Cawdor. Steward of the Beat Roddy Forbes & his team did an excellent job, resulting in a memorable Championship.
Over the three days of the Championship the weather was kind. Forty six handlers and their dogs started the first day under the watchful eyes of judges Graham Cox, Greg Paterson, Philip Parkins and Linda Partridge in a field of mixed turnips and kale; which proved very challenging for the dogs & handlers.
Twenty one dogs were called for the second day; starting off with a retrieve on the hillside and finishing with a drive over a river and up a steep hill; reducing to nine dogs for the third day.
The final day’s trialling was at the same place as the first day, in the turnips and kale.
