Every Retriever trialer dreams of winning the Championship but to win on the Royal Estate of Sandringham in front of
Her Majesty The Queen is more than a dream, it’s a moment of a lifetime.  For 39 dogs and their handlers the 1998
Retriever Championship provided just that opportunity by kind permission of Her Majesty The Queen.

Sandringham provided the most testing conditions for dog and handler, on varied ground, sugar beet, rough cover,
marsh and woodland.  Throughout the three days strong challenges were set, challenges that were not only met but
surpassed by a worthy winner.
