2009 Cocker Spaniel Championship

The 77th Cocker Spaniel championship was held on the Shadwell Estate, Thetford by kind permission of the Shadwell Estate Company.  27 dogs and their handlers competed over two days on superb trialling ground, mainly laid bracken interspersed with a few bramble patches.

Martin Wingrove, head keeper ensured that there was an excellent supply of game throughout the stake and this included pheasant, partridge, woodcock, hare and rabbit. Judges Keith Carter, Guy Croft, Jack Iliffe and Edward Martin ensured that every competitor had the chance to shine with the guns performing to a high standard. 

The announcement of the winner brought welcome new faces, both owner and handler, to the very pinnacle of the cocker fraternity.
